Montreal appealed for the suspension decision of their first choice goalkeeper. However, CONCACAF rejected the appeal against Section 6.1 (a) of the Champions League.The player picked the first yellow card on the second leg of the semi-final against Alajuelense on April 7. Two consequence yellow cards forced the player to get match suspension.
Maxime Crepeau is out due to injury problems. Therefore, Montreal has to depend on the backup goalkeeper, John Smits who joined the club on loan from FC Edmonton.
Montreal Impact’s technical director Adam Braz reported that they will look for backup goalkeeper
